Organize Your Time– A New Series

Happy Monday everyone!! Is anyone else in total shock that this is the last week in January? Because I could swear to you that the new year just started. Isn’t that how it always works? Time passes before you are even aware of it. That really hit home to me last Thursday during a sermon I heard. My college pastor was talking about time, and he said, “Our regard or disregard for time reflects on our relationship with God. Time is not a right that you earn, but a gift that you invest.”

This really set me to thinking, How am I spending my time? Am I spending it in a way that I want to or that glorifies the Lord? Do I control my time, or does time control me?

I have found that in recent months I am controlled by hustle and bustle. I am constantly checking the time to make sure I am not running out of it, constantly moving from one thing to the next– never really accomplishing what I want to accomplish.

But, how can I change?

Psalm 90:12 says, “So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom”(ESV). In other words, God please show me how to make the most of my time so that I may live in a way that glorifies you.

In other words, organize your time.

I say organize from the sense of creating systems that will help you to manage time. Because we will always have to manage our time. Things will come up. Events will run late. Our kids or spouses or family members or friends will have needs we need to address. Time management is a balancing act that will never end. But, organizing your time will help you do that.

So, stay tuned because I will be posting in this new series every week until we have exhausted the topic. If you have any questions or thoughts about how you organize your time, please comment below!

God bless.

Far too often I find my self a running out of time. Biblically I know that I often run out of time because I am not walking in wisdom. Ephesians 5:15-17 says to
“15 Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise,
16 making the best use of the time, because the days are evil.
17 Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.”
The days and time are literally working in opposition to me. If I reject passivity, dig into the work, and yes make a practical plan, I know that I can do better.
I look forward to reading more posts that help and encourage me to organize my time better!
