January Review and February Goals

This post is part of an ongoing series about goal setting and my 2017 goals. I review how last month went, let you know how I want to improve, and set up my goals for the following month!

Happy Tuesday everyone!! It’s officially February, so it’s time to review my goals from January and let you know what I am up to this month! If you remember, I posted my 2017 goals back in January and said I would update you on how each month is going. This month, I’ll set up this post by going through my January goals, taking you through my January review, and setting up for February! So, let’s dive right in!

Quarterly Goals

To get started, I’ll show you how I broke my goals down into the first quarter of the year (January, February, March). I kept it pretty simple. I wrote out “focuses” rather than SMART goals, because I want the flexibility of changing my goals month to month. Without further ado, here they are:

  • Focus on blog content.
  • Create basic healthy habits.
  • Bible study and prayer
  • Set routines.
  • Rebecca and Brady
  • Mom and Dad
  • Firm up budget.
  • Work up to 20 hours.
  • Friends
  • Read nine books.
  • Explore churches.
  • Look at premarital counseling.

January Goals

In January I broke down my goals even further, and then broke them down again into weekly goals. I am pretty proud of what I accomplished!

  • Post nine times. (posted four times)
  • Set editorial calendar.
  • Do yoga four times a week. (did two to three times a week, missed one week altogether)
  • Read my Bible every day. (missed eight days out of the month- so not bad!!)
  • Set up ideal routines. Test. (morning and evening routines- which I am loving)
  • Go out with Rebecca and Brady once. (did not happen)
  • Do something with Mom.
  • Do something with Dad. (nope)
  • Work ten to 15 hours a week.
  • Hang out with Suzanne.
  • Create a budget.
  • Read three books.

So, there were only two goals that I did not accomplish at all. The rest I at least made headway on, so that is really exciting! Goal setting, for me at least, is more about progress than perfection (which is also a really popular quote), so I will celebrate, look at how I can improve, and move on from here!

January Review

This semester is the busiest semester that I have ever had, so I am just going to accept that I will post as much as I can. No big deal.

When it comes to exercise, I really just don’t want to. So…… not sure how I’m going to work that out. If you’ve got any tips, please leave them in the comments!!

Honestly, I decided to just rework my mindset on spending time with family. We are all really busy, so going out and doing something just is not possible every month. I decided to scrap this goal and try something new.

February Goals

This month, I am a little more ambitious and set a few more goals. I’ll just jump in and list them off!

  • Post eight times. (We shall see!)
  • Write posts up to two weeks in advance.
  • Have one brainstorm day.
  • Read the Bible every day.
    • Finish Genesis.
    • Try new study methods.
  • Make a prayer plan.
    • Request lists
    • Different disciplines
  • Set up weekly routines.
  • Hang out with Grace.
  • Go to dinner with Shelby.
  • Read two books.
  • Work twelve to seventeen hours.
  • Balance checkbook weekly.
  • Spend one evening a week with family.
  • Do yoga four times a week.
  • Keep track of what I eat.
  • Drink 80 oz. of water a day.

Ambitious I know, but I think it’s possible!!!

  1. Great idea for a post! I love these, I think you’ve inspired me to do this type of thing on my blog, hope you don’t mind! I love sharing goals and progress with others, I find it so motivating.

Some mental goals I know I have set for myself as of recently is to be more committed to the gym (I was once very committed but after Christmas time it’s gone downhill), eat healthier, and to really grow my blog / get to know other bloggers!

Yay!! Go for it– I would love to see it. Let me know when you post it! I’m totally struggling this month with working out, so I totally feel you there.
